Every child deserves to be seen, known and able to access education. We are looking for a motivated and determined Child Missing Education Officer to play a key role in identifying, locating and supporting children who are missing from education across Bracknell Forest.

At the heart of this role is a simple but important aim: to ensure children do not become lost from education and that their safety, wellbeing and right to learn remain firmly in view.

You will be confident in gathering and analysing information, using your judgement to understand individual circumstances and taking appropriate action to help children access suitable educational provision.

About the team…

You will join our ambitious Education Welfare Service, working alongside colleagues across Education Welfare, Elective Home Education and wider children’s services. We are a small team that values sharing expertise, learning from one another and taking a joined-up approach to supporting children and families.

• Manage a caseload of children missing education, tracking, monitoring and supporting their return to appropriate educational provision.
• Investigate cases where children have no identified education provision, using information from families, schools, other local authorities and partner agencies.
• Provide advice, support and appropriate challenge to schools regarding admissions and the removal of children from the school roll.
• Maintain accurate records and use information and data to support effective oversight, reporting and decision-making.
• Work collaboratively across agencies, keeping safeguarding and the child’s welfare at the heart of your practice.
