An exciting opportunity has arisen at Brackensdale Spencer Academy for a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to join our ever-growing team. Our Teaching Assistants provide direct support to our children, some with additional and complex needs. This can either be within the classroom environment, individually or in small groups.
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who wants to develop their skills and experiences and can demonstrate the below essential qualities:
- Empathy and patience: The ability to remain calm and show sensitivity and understanding towards pupils with complex needs.
- Strong communication skills: The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and other professionals and to adapt communication styles to suit individual needs.
- Resilience and flexibility: A resourceful and adaptable approach to working with children whose needs may change from day to day. Versatility is key as you may be asked to work across all key stages including Nursery and our Enhanced Resource units of the Academy.
- Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions from teaching staff and senior leaders.
- Commitment to safeguarding: A firm understanding of safeguarding procedures and the dedication to ensuring the welfare of all pupils.
Purpose of role: To contribute to the Academy objectives by effectively and efficiently undertaking a range of duties to support the excellent teaching and learning of pupils as well as supporting to ensure their pastoral and wellbeing needs are met; providing general and specific assistance to pupils in all aspects of the curriculum under the strategic direction of the Principal and SENCo along with daily guidance and supervision from the classroom teacher. Versatility and flexibility is key as at times you may be required to work across all key stages, including Nursery and our Enhanced Resource units of the Academy.
Measurable Performance Objectives for classroom-based Education support professionals will relate to:
- The delivery of high-quality support to our pupils
- Accelerating the progress of groups
- Developing high quality resources
