Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Wrexham to assist with the appointment of an Attendance Support Officer, on a 3.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: Β£14.32 - Β£18.72 per hour

Summary:

The Attendance Support Officer plays a key role in improving school attendance, attainment, and engagement for children and young people across the borough. Working closely with schools, families, and partner agencies, you will identify and address barriers to attendance through targeted interventions, home visits, mentoring, attendance audits, and multi-agency collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside schools, parents, carers, and the Education Social Work team to address pupil non-attendance.
  • Conduct home visits to investigate absence, support pupils returning to education, and explain attendance legislation where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and families, providing mentoring, coaching, and practical support to improve attendance.
  • Develop and manage Attendance Improvement Plans (AIPs), monitoring progress and reporting outcomes.
  • Complete attendance audits within schools, analysing attendance processes and recommending improvements.
  • Collect, analyse, and maintain accurate attendance data to support school performance, self-evaluation, and legal proceedings where necessary.

Qualification:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above) or equivalent.
  • Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline (such as Youth & Community Work, Health & Social Care) or significant equivalent experience working within education support, school management systems, or attendance services.

Essentials:

  • Significant experience working within education, schools, or children's services.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable or hard-to-reach children and young people.
  • Knowledge of education legislation, safeguarding procedures, and attendance management.
  • Ability to analyse attendance data and develop effective intervention plans.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.

  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
