We are working closely with a local authority in Worcester to assist with the appointment of a Fleet and Compliance Manager, on a 1.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £184.00- £243.20 per day

Summary: The Fleet and Compliance Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of Worcester City Council's fleet, technical services, depots, and compliance functions within City Services. The postholder ensures that all fleet operations comply with statutory legislation, Operator Licence requirements, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards while delivering safe, efficient, and customer-focused services. The Fleet and Compliance Manager also leads on health and safety across City Services and contributes to corporate initiatives, business resilience, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Council's fleet, technical services, and depot operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant service delivery.
  • Ensure fleet maintenance, inspections, and operational practices comply with statutory regulations, DVSA requirements, and Department for Transport guidance.
  • Lead the implementation of health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with legislation, risk management, and safe working practices across City Services.
  • Lead, motivate, develop, and performance manage employees, promoting a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Develop and implement fleet strategies that improve operational efficiency, sustainability, environmental performance, and service quality.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – Transport Manager qualification (or ability to act as the Council's Operator Licence holder).
  • Degree or professional qualification in Transport Management, Fleet Management, Engineering, Logistics, Environmental Services, Business Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fleet management legislation, Operator Licence requirements, and transport compliance.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and regulatory compliance.

Essentials:

  • Significant experience managing fleet operations within a complex operational environment.
  • Experience acting as a Transport Manager or managing Operator Licence compliance.
  • Experience delivering service improvements, innovation, and sustainability initiatives.
