Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of an Attendance Officer, on a 6-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £17.35 - £20.08 per hour
Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Attendance Officer to work with schools, children, young people and families to improve school attendance and reduce persistent absence. The role involves undertaking home visits, supporting schools with attendance strategies, managing a varied caseload, and working within a statutory framework to ensure children receive their education. This is a term-time only, 30-hour (4-day week) hybrid role requiring travel for home and school visits.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and support school attendance, working closely with schools, pupils and families.
- Conduct home visits, parental meetings and attendance interventions to improve pupil engagement.
- Manage a caseload, maintain accurate records and prepare reports within statutory timescales.
- Work collaboratively with schools and partner agencies to deliver tailored attendance support.
- Analyse attendance data and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
Essentials:
- Full UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance.
- Experience working with children, young people and families.
- Experience supporting school attendance within an educational setting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with families, schools and partner agencies.
- Excellent report writing and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload.
- Proficient in IT systems for maintaining records and analysing attendance data.
