We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Sussex to assist with the appointment of a Trainee Passenger Transport Planner on a 3.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client\’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.26 – £17.14 per hour
Overview
As a Trainee Passenger Transport Planner, you will be part of a vital team responsible for developing and delivering efficient, customer-focused transport solutions across West Sussex. This includes planning transport for mainstream schools, SEN pupils, and vulnerable adults. You will receive training in specialist transport planning systems and work under the guidance of a Senior Planner to contribute to both long-term service strategies and urgent daily requirements.
This is a varied and dynamic role requiring excellent communication, adaptability, and a strong sense of responsibility. It involves both office-based tasks and site visits across the county.
Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule transport services in liaison with bus, taxi, rail, and community transport providers.
- Develop both long-term and short-term solutions for customer transport needs, including emergency responses.
- Support arrangements for children and adults with complex needs, ensuring accessibility and safety.
- Answer technical queries from residents and transport suppliers regarding transport logistics.
- Investigate service complaints, meet with involved parties, and record outcomes accurately.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in planning, logistics, coordination, or scheduling roles.
- Basic understanding of passenger transport planning and local transport issues.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Good knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to transport

- You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
