We are working closely alongside a local authority in Greenwich to assist with the appointment of a Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officer on a 3 months contract, highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion. Summary

The Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officer plays a vital role in supporting the Royal Borough of Greenwich's housing duties. You will be responsible for conducting regular visits to temporary accommodation properties both within and outside of London. The primary purpose of these visits is to verify occupancy, ensure residents are complying with their tenancy or license conditions, and confirm that property standards meet statutory guidelines. By maintaining accurate records and identifying risks, you ensure that placements remain safe, suitable, and compliant with the Homeless Code of Guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct both scheduled and unannounced visits to temporary accommodation to confirm resident occupation.
  • Ensure property standards comply with sovereign housing duties and statutory guidelines.
  • Ensure residents understand and adhere to the terms of their license or tenancy agreements.
  • Identify service users with specific support needs and refer them to appropriate internal or external support services.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of visit data and provide observations to support ongoing case monitoring.
  • Strictly adhere to the Councils lone working policies, including using safety equipment and maintaining regular contact with the team during visits.
  • Assist in statistical monitoring, customer surveys, and consultation activities to improve service effectiveness.

Essentials

  • Experience in carrying out property visits or inspections to verify occupancy and assess property standards.
  • Proven ability to investigate issues like non-occupation or subletting and document a clear chronology of events.
  • Sharp eye for detail to identify property risks, non-compliance, or safeguarding concerns.

Please note: You should be available to work immediately or at short notice. You should have the right to work in the U.K. This role requires a Standard DBS.
