We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of an Estates Surveyor, on a 9-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £290.06 - £399.00 per day
This role sits within the Estates Strategy & Development team and focuses on managing property transfers and disposals across a large and diverse council estate. The position involves overseeing transactions from initial appraisal through to completion, supporting strategic objectives and capital receipt targets while ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation.
Responsibilities:
- Manage property transfers and disposals in line with Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972
- Oversee the full lifecycle of asset disposals, including valuations, agent instruction, and transaction completion
- Support delivery of the Strategic Asset Management Plan
- Undertake options appraisals, feasibility studies, and viability assessments
- Develop business cases aligned with council priorities
Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Estate Management, Real Estate, or a related field
- MRICS or Associate membership (desirable)
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in estate management, particularly property disposals and asset transfers
- Strong understanding of property legislation and compliance requirements
- Ability to manage complex transactions independently
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and use initiative
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Willingness to travel across Somerset and attend office 2 days per week
