Swindon Borough Council is seeking a dynamic and resilient Team Manager to join our Assessment and Child Protection (ACP) Team. This is a non-case-holding managerial role situated at the 'front door' of Children's Social Care. You will work in a high-energy environment, collaborating with other Team Managers to oversee statutory assessments for new cases referred via MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub). This role is ideal for a seasoned professional looking to broaden their leadership skillset within a team committed to driving positive change and improving outcomes for children and families across Swindon.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality supervision and management to a team of social workers, ensuring professional development and adherence to statutory standards.
- Lead the team during 'Duty Weeks' (occurring one in every six weeks), managing the influx of new referrals from MASH and overseeing immediate safeguarding processes.
- Ensure all statutory assessments are completed within strict legislative deadlines and to a high quality.
- Maintain flexibility to respond to changing needs, urgent safeguarding requests, and short-notice priorities.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Social Work (BA, BSc, DipSW, or equivalent) is essential.
Essentials:
- Proven experience working within MASH or Assessment and Child Protection environments.
- Direct experience in the supervision, training, and management of social work staff.
- Active registration with Social Work England.
