We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Shropshire to assist with the appointment of a DSG Specialist Support Accountant on a 5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client's discretion.
Rate of Pay: £22.43 - £28.96 per hour
Summary: An opportunity is available for a qualified Finance Specialist to support the development of the DSG Management Plan and financial planning activities. This role focuses on delivering robust financial modelling, scenario planning, and supporting education-related finance functions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist support in the production of the DSG Management Plan
- Develop and maintain robust financial models based on accurate data
- Deliver scenario planning and financial modelling for the Medium-Term Financial Plan (MTFP)
- Work closely with Education teams, Children's Services Finance Business Partner, and DSG Funding Coordinator
- Ensure financial data is accurate, reliable, and supports decision-making
Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (CIPFA / ACCA / ACA)
Essential Requirements:
- Strong experience in financial modelling and scenario planning
- Experience working within local authority / public sector finance (desirable but preferred)
- Ability to work with large datasets and produce meaningful insights
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
