Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Greenwich to assist with the appointment of a Senior SEND Assessment & Review Officer , on a 2.5-month contract , likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay : £24.54 – £31.26 Per hour
Summary:
This is a senior role within the SEND Assessment and Review service, designed for an experienced professional with a strong grasp of the legal and procedural frameworks surrounding the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015). You will manage the Tribunal/Compliance team and oversee complex cases that pose potential legal or reputational risk to the local authority. The postholder will represent the Council at SEND tribunals, ensure legal compliance, and work closely with families, providers, and senior stakeholders to secure effective, lawful, and child-focused outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Responsibilities:
- Deputise for the Team Leader Tribunal/Compliance as required.
- Lead and manage the Tribunal/Compliance team, ensuring strategic alignment and legal compliance.
- Represent the Local Authority at SEND Tribunal hearings.
- Oversee complex and contentious cases, ensuring compliance and minimising legal risk.
- Undertake lone visits to assess children and young people and draft aspirational and holistic EHC Plans.
- Challenge and support families, schools, and professionals to ensure the LA meets legal obligations under the Children and Families Act 2014.
Requirements:
- Experience in the SEN assessment and review process.
- Proven ability to manage complex SEND cases with potential legal implications.
- Understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014 and Code of Practice 2015.
- Skilled in writing legally robust and outcome-focused EHC Plans.
