We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of an Estate Services Cleaner, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary: Southern Housing is seeking a hardworking and reliable Estate Services Cleaner to join our Assets & Sustainability directorate. Reporting through the Estate Services team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal of our residential estates. This is a physically demanding manual labour role that serves as the "face" of our service, ensuring that communal areas, walkways, and open spaces are kept to a high standard. Your work directly contributes to the well-being of our residents and the sustainability of our community assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out thorough cleaning of internal communal areas, including lobbies, stairwells, hallways, and lifts, ensuring they are free of dust, litter, and debris.
  • Ensure the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals in strict accordance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
  • Maintain cleaning tools and machinery in good working order, reporting any defects immediately.
  • Identify and report repairs, communal lighting failures, or safety hazards (such as tripped carpets or fire risks) to the Estate Services Supervisor.

Essentials:

  • Prior experience in a cleaning, caretaking, or manual labour role—ideally within a social housing or facilities management environment.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety practices, particularly manual handling and COSHH.
  • A full UK driving license is preferred (and may be essential depending on the specific patch/route assigned).
