The PRS Lettings Negotiator plays a key role in supporting the Council's homelessness prevention and housing needs objectives by securing affordable private rented sector (PRS) accommodation for households in housing need. The post holder will proactively source and negotiate suitable private rented properties, build strong relationships with landlords and letting agents, and facilitate successful tenancy placements for residents at risk of homelessness or requiring move-on accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Identify and secure private rented sector accommodation through proactive landlord engagement, networking, marketing initiatives, and property sourcing activities.
- Negotiate affordable rental agreements and incentive packages to secure properties for eligible households.
- Conduct inspections of prospective properties to assess suitability, condition, and compliance with housing standards.
- Assist applicants with Universal Credit and Housing Benefit applications where appropriate.
- Ensure all casework, payments, inspections, and tenancy arrangements comply with Council procedures and financial regulations.
Qualifications
- Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent experience.

- Experience working within housing, homelessness prevention, lettings, tenancy management, housing advice, or a related field.
- Experience conducting property inspections or assessing housing standards.
