Senior Payroll Officer (12‑month contract)
We are working closely with Nottingham to assist with the appointment of a Senior Payroll Officer on a 12‑month contract, highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £18.06 – £23.79 per hour
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to administer and maintain payroll and pension systems, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with statutory regulations.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain payroll and pension systems, including colleague expenses, statutory payments, and absence records in line with current legislation.
- Process payroll accurately and within agreed timescales, ensuring compliance with PAYE, statutory payments, pension, and payroll regulations.
- Operate and reconcile payroll control accounts, including net pay and pension accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and perform regular reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Extract, analyse, and manipulate payroll and financial data to produce reports, returns, and management information.
- Assist with monthly, period‑end, and year‑end payroll processing, producing all required statutory and financial documentation.
Qualification
- Diploma in Payroll (NVQ Level 4) or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent payroll experience.
Essentials
- Substantial experience working with computerised payroll systems.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of PAYE, statutory payments, payroll legislation, and pension administration.
- Experience managing payroll reconciliations, control accounts, and payroll reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to retrieve, analyse, and manipulate complex data.
- Experience handling complex payroll queries with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
