We are working closely with local authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Weighbridge Administrator, on a 13-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £13.26- £17.10 per hour

Summary: The Weighbridge Administrator plays a key role in supporting the efficient operation of the Council's landfill and waste management services. The post holder is responsible for operating the weighbridge system, processing customer transactions, maintaining accurate waste and tonnage records, supporting financial and income reconciliation processes, and ensuring compliance with environmental permit requirements and statutory obligations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate the landfill weighbridge system and ensure the accurate recording of all vehicle movements entering and leaving the site.
  • Assist with the Council's statutory tonnage reporting requirements linked to environmental permits, landfill operations, and taxation obligations.
  • Ensure customers are charged correctly in accordance with approved charging schedules.
  • Ensure transactions are coded to the correct budget lines and financial systems.
  • Ensure all activities comply with environmental legislation, health and safety requirements, Council policies, and operational procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications), including English and Mathematics, or substantial relevant experience demonstrating the required knowledge and skills.

Essentials:

  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Proven experience using computer systems and software packages to support administrative functions.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and processing data.
