We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Isle of Wight to assist with the appointment of a Housing Needs & Homelessness Manager, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.68 - £24.62 per hour

Summary: We are seeking an experienced Housing Needs and Homelessness Manager to lead the delivery of the Council's Housing Needs and Homelessness Service. The successful candidate will ensure statutory homelessness duties are met, drive homelessness prevention initiatives, oversee temporary accommodation provision, and lead a high-performing team delivering customer-focused, compliant, and effective housing services.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Housing Needs and Homelessness Team, ensuring high standards of performance and service delivery.
  • Ensure homelessness assessments, decisions, and placements are completed lawfully, accurately, and within required timescales.
  • Develop and deliver homelessness prevention strategies and early intervention initiatives.
  • Oversee the management, quality, suitability, and health and safety compliance of temporary accommodation.
  • Manage complex homelessness cases and provide guidance on housing legislation and policy.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent experience.
  • Professional qualification in Housing or equivalent relevant experience.

Essentials:

  • Significant experience managing homelessness, housing needs, or housing advice services.
  • Extensive knowledge of homelessness legislation, housing law, statutory guidance, and best practice.
  • Experience leading and managing teams within a public-facing housing environment.
  • Strong understanding of temporary accommodation management and homelessness prevention.
  • Experience working within a local authority, housing association, or similar housing service.
