We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Gardener, on a 7-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Overview
The Gardener role supports the Environment & Leisure service, delivering high-quality grounds maintenance in line with specifications and client requirements across the city.
Responsibilities
- Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and clearance of leaves and litter
- Planting of bedding plants, trees, and shrubs
- Shrub bed planting and maintenance, including pruning and division
- Application of chemicals in line with regulations
- Maintenance, setting out, and marking of sports facilities
- Undertake general soft landscaping works such as top-soiling, cultivation, seeding, and shrub-bed renewal
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent) or a minimum of two years proven practical experience in grounds maintenance
Essentials
- Full UK driving licence
- Proven experience in practical horticulture and grounds maintenance
- Experience using mowing equipment and small plant (e.g. pedestrian mowers, strimmers)
- Knowledge of mechanical plant/equipment and basic maintenance
