Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Charnwood to assist with the appointment of a Local Plans - Team Leader, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: Β£52.00 - Β£69.00 per hour

Summary:

The candidate will manage and develop the Local Plans team, coordinate research and evidence gathering, oversee external consultants and work closely with internal departments, elected members, partner organisations, government bodies and local communities. The role will also represent the Council at public inquiries, examinations and hearings, providing expert planning policy evidence where required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the preparation, implementation, monitoring and review of the Council's statutory Local Development Framework.
  • Manage and supervise the Local Plans team, allocating work and ensuring effective delivery of team objectives.
  • Provide specialist advice on planning policy matters relating to planning applications and pre-application enquiries.
  • Coordinate surveys and research required to maintain an up-to-date evidence base for the Local Development Framework.

Qualification:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Spatial Planning, Geography, Environmental Planning or a closely related discipline.
  • Relevant professional qualification or membership of a recognised planning professional body, such as the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), where applicable.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in planning policy, development planning and relevant legislation.

Essentials:

  • Significant professional experience within planning policy, local plan preparation, spatial planning or development planning.
  • Experience of interpreting and applying planning legislation, national planning policy and statutory guidance.
  • Experience of preparing reports and recommendations for elected members, committees or senior management.
