We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a PRS Lettings Negotiator, on a 5.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £22.51 - £29.67 per hour

Summary: The PRS Lettings Negotiator will be responsible for securing a supply of suitable and affordable private rented accommodation to support households with housing needs, including homelessness prevention and relief cases, and residents moving on from supported or temporary accommodation. The role involves sourcing properties, negotiating rents with landlords, inspecting properties, matching prospective tenants to suitable accommodation, and supporting both landlords and tenants throughout the letting process. The postholder will also provide advice on tenancy-related matters, maintain accurate records, and work closely with internal teams, landlords and external partners to maximise access to suitable private rented accommodation.

Responsibilities:

  • Source private rented properties through landlords, online platforms, publications and direct contact.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with private landlords and letting professionals.
  • Negotiate rents and payments to secure suitable accommodation within agreed affordability levels.
  • Provide landlords with information and advice regarding their responsibilities and available Council services.
  • Inspect properties, identify health and safety concerns and disrepair issues, and prepare inspection reports.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience in private rented sector lettings, housing, property management or a closely related environment.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with landlords, tenants and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to assess properties and housing needs, identify potential issues and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Good knowledge of private rented sector processes, homelessness prevention and relevant housing legislation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
