We are working closely alongside a local authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of an Early Years Practitioner on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £14.57 - £19.20 per hour

Summary

The Early Years Practitioner is responsible for delivering high-quality, integrated day care and early education to children from birth to 7 years. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to ensure every child develops in a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment. This role requires a blend of educational support, physical care, and proactive observation to track development and support the smooth transition of children between home, the centre, and school.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to daily, weekly, and termly planning that meets the individual needs and interests of children, ensuring a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Foster a secure and stimulating learning environment that aligns with best-practice curriculum guidance for various developmental stages.
  • Provide essential care, including feeding, washing, toileting, dressing, changing, and comforting children.
  • Assist children with mobility aids, implement individual movement programmes under professional direction, and help children develop self-help and personal hygiene skills.
  • Manage child behaviour positively in line with procedural guidance and support interventions for children with additional needs.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience/willingness to work towards it).
  • Knowledge of Child Protection procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment.

Essentials

  • Proven experience working with children aged 0–7 years in a nursery, school, or day care setting.
  • Experience implementing anti-discriminatory practices and working with children who have additional needs or disabilities.
  • Experience in conducting observations and maintaining accurate developmental records/profiles for children.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • You should have the right to work in the U.K.
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS.
