Summary: The Senior Planning Officer is responsible for delivering a comprehensive development management service, assessing and determining a wide range of planning applications and development proposals across Liverpool. The role supports sustainable growth, regeneration, and conservation objectives by balancing development needs with the protection of the City's historic and environmental assets.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, process, and determine a full range of planning applications, including major, complex, and strategic development proposals.
- Provide professional planning advice to developers, agents, businesses, residents, and Council departments.
- Represent the Council at hearings, inquiries, and appeal proceedings where appropriate.
- Represent Liverpool City Council at meetings with developers, consultants, public bodies, community groups, and elected members.
- Manage workloads effectively to meet statutory deadlines and performance targets.
Qualifications:
- Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Town Planning recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
Essentials:
- Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy, and development management procedures.
- Knowledge of planning application assessment processes and planning decision-making.
- Experience working within a planning office or development management environment.
- Experience preparing planning reports and recommendations.
