We are working closely alongside a local authority in Liverpool to assist with the appointment of a Senior Business Support Officer on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary: The Senior Business Support Officer provides high-level administrative, financial, and data support to the Alternative Provision (AP) Commissioning team. This role is essential in ensuring that vulnerable young people are matched with appropriate educational and social care placements, including school provision, tuition, and residential care. You will act as a central point of coordination for financial processing via SAP, data management across multiple platforms (Capita, Liquid Logic), and the broader quality assurance of external providers.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Commissioning Managers by sending placement and tuition requests to suppliers and following up on offers for panel review.
- Support the financial monitoring of contracts, including raising limit orders and processing provider uplifts.
- Consult with Finance and Procurement departments to ensure all records adhere to audit requirements, contract standing orders, and commissioning rules.
- Use Excel to manipulate and extract data for case tracking and overall management reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Support quality assurance by distributing quality frameworks to providers and maintaining a register of returns and monitoring visits.
- Assist in the preparation of service specifications and the management of formal tendering rounds.
Qualifications:
- A good standard of general education (GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above).
Essentials:
- A solid understanding of Local Authority education processes and policies, preferably from a previous business support role in a similar environment.
- Proven experience in finance-related business support, with specific experience using SAP considered a significant advantage.
- Considerable experience using Excel as a data management tool, with the ability to create summaries and track individual cases for management.
