We are working closely alongside a local authority in Liverpool to assist with the appointment of a Senior Business Rate and BID Officer on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary: To provide inspiring leadership to the Business Rate and BID team, overseeing the efficient administration of Business Rates and acting as the primary Lead Officer for Liverpool's Business Improvement District (BID) company. You will drive service excellence, continuous improvement, and legislative compliance to maximize income while ensuring a high-quality, customer-focused service for local businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Directly manage and supervise Business Rate, Valuation, and Visiting Officers.
- Lead the administration of the BID Levy, including monthly reporting and attending liaison meetings with the BID company.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard against fraud and ensure data protection compliance.
- Report performance data to committees, boards, and steering groups.
- Identify opportunities for change, innovation, and enhanced customer access.
Qualifications:
- Educated to A-level standard or equivalent qualification/experience.
Essentials:
- Administering Business Rates or Council Tax billing and collection in a large Local Authority.
- Managing and supervising staff at a senior level, including performance monitoring and training delivery.
- Deep understanding of Business Rates, BID Levy, and Council Tax legislation.
- Knowledge of Data Protection Act, Health & Safety, and Equal Opportunities policies.
- Awareness of anti-fraud measures and investigative standards.
