Overview We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Yorkshire to assist with the appointment of an Interim Head of Finance , on a 6-month contract , highly likely to be extended at client\’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.Rate of Pay: £36.02 – £45.75 per hourResponsibilities Provide expert financial advice, planning, and reporting across the Combined Authority.Lead on financial strategy, performance management, and compliance with regulatory standards.Oversee service-level agreements for finance-related services and support the development of a unified internal finance function.Deputise for the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Resources where required.Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting.Essential Requirements Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.Proven leadership in senior finance roles, ideally within the public sector or other complex organisations.Strong technical accounting knowledge, including year-end accounts and audit preparation.Demonstrated success managing budgeting cycles, financial strategy, and stakeholder engagement.Experience with financial systems transformation (Oracle knowledge desirable).Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence to engage at senior levels including elected members.Notes You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.You should have right to work in the U.KDisclaimer Brackenberry Ltd is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
