We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lincoln to assist with the appointment of a Finance Technician, on a 4.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £13.69 – £17.72 per hour

Summary:

The Finance Technician provides crucial financial support to Budget Holders and Senior Finance staff. The role contributes to strategic financial planning, budget management, performance improvement, and value for money assessments. The postholder supports a wide range of functions, including budget monitoring, financial reporting, efficiency savings, closure of accounts, and financial systems maintenance.

This position also plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service on first-stage telephone contact, particularly in areas such as credit control and adult care charges.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting and managing revenue and capital budgets.
  • Monitor and advise on budget performance and outturn projections.
  • Support development and implementation of efficiency savings and value-for-money strategies.
  • Contribute to statistical returns, end-of-year adjustments, and closure of accounts.
  • Maintain accounts via budget virements, journal transfers, and recharges.

Requirements:

  • Preferably AAT qualified or working towards the qualification.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Experience with budget setting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Agresso) and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data and contribute to strategic decisions.
