Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Elmbridge to assist with the appointment of a Private Rented Sector Officer, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £20.52 - £27.06 per hour

Summary:

Private Rented Sector Officer responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of the Council's Rental Support Scheme, helping homeless or at-risk households secure and sustain private rented accommodation. The role involves building relationships with landlords and letting agents, managing tenancy processes, conducting property inspections, and supporting tenants to maintain stable housing.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with private landlords and letting agents to increase housing supply.
  • Negotiate tenancy agreements and affordable rental arrangements.
  • Manage the Rental Support Scheme, including property onboarding, tenancy documentation, deposits, and inspections.
  • Match households to suitable private rented accommodation and support move-on from temporary accommodation.
  • Conduct property inspections to ensure safety, compliance, and suitability standards are met.

Essentials:

  • GCSEs or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Access to a vehicle for property visits and inspections.
  • Significant experience in the private rented sector and knowledge of tenancy legislation.
  • Experience delivering customer-focused services and dealing with the public.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Good understanding of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Housing Act 1996.

  • This role requires a Basic DBS
