We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Westminster to assist with the appointment of a Pest Control Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion.
Rate of Pay: Β£21.83 - Β£28.80 per hour
Summary:
The Pest Control Officer will deliver a customer-focused pest control service across Westminster, helping the Council meet its statutory obligations under the Public Health Act 1936 and the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949.
The role involves investigating pest-related complaints and service requests, carrying out site surveys and appropriate treatments, providing advice on pest prevention, maintaining accurate records and undertaking enforcement action where required. The post holder will also participate in pest control programmes, emergency call-outs and other public health-related duties.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate complaints, service requests and referrals relating to rats, mice and other pests.
- Carry out surveys and inspections of properties and sites to identify pest activity and appropriate treatment requirements.
- Plan and undertake effective pest control treatments using approved methods.
- Advise residents, complainants and Council staff on appropriate pest treatments and preventative measures.
- Coordinate and undertake block treatment and sewer baiting programmes.
Qualifications:
- RIPHH Level 3 in Pest Control.
- Proven operational experience in pest control, including carrying out surveys and treatments.
- Valid UK driving licence and ability to travel throughout Westminster as required.
- Experience using a range of pest control methods and equipment.
- Good understanding of safe working practices when handling pesticides and equipment.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and manage workloads effectively.
