We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Carmarthenshire to assist with the appointment of a Grounds Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion.
Rate of Pay: £12.84 - £16.61 per hour
Summary:
The Grounds Operative (General) will deliver high-quality grounds maintenance services across public parks, schools, playing fields, landscaped areas, and other open spaces. The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance duties, operate machinery and equipment safely, and help maintain attractive, safe, and well-presented public environments.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out general grounds maintenance including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and maintenance of sports areas.
- Set out and mark sports pitches and maintain artificial, synthetic, and natural playing surfaces.
- Undertake site preparation, basic construction, and landscaping activities.
- Clean public buildings, changing rooms, toilets, parks, playgrounds, and open spaces.
- Safely apply pesticides in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and current legislation.
- Operate handheld tools, powered machinery, light plant, tractors, and tractor-mounted equipment.
Qualification:
- Training in the use of grounds maintenance machinery.
- Previous experience in gardening or grounds maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
- Ability to allocate tasks and work to set timescales.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to tow trailers.
