Summary
Cardiff Council is seeking a proactive and resilient Emergency Management Officer to support the development and delivery of the Council's emergency preparedness, response, and recovery arrangements. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act and other statutory obligations by developing emergency plans, coordinating training and exercises, strengthening business continuity arrangements, and supporting multi-agency responses to incidents.
Responsibilities
- Deliver work programmes to ensure compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act and other relevant statutory requirements.
- Lead designated specialist work streams, with responsibilities allocated by the Principal Emergency Management Officer.
- Organise and participate in emergency exercises to test plans and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide support to the Council's response to emergencies and incidents during and outside normal office hours.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level standard or able to demonstrate equivalent work-related attainment.
Essentials
- Good understanding of local and regional government structures and systems.
- Understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act and other relevant statutory legislation.
- Experience developing plans, policies, procedures, or operational guidance.
Rate of Pay
£18.35- £24.06 per hour

- You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
- You should have the right to work in the UK.
- This role requires a Basic DBS.
