Bromley Council is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of SEN (Interim) to lead the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Service and provide system-wide leadership across the local SEND partnership. Reporting to the Director of Education, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the borough's SEND strategic vision while ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and legally compliant services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the SEN Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, inclusive, and effective SEND provision.
- Lead integrated commissioning and collaborative working arrangements to maximise resources and improve service delivery.
- Oversee statutory SEND functions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and quality standards.
- Lead continuous service improvement through effective performance management, quality assurance, data analysis, and business intelligence.
- Lead and oversee SEND improvement programmes, policy development, and strategic transformation initiatives.
- Represent the Council in regional and national SEND partnerships, inspections, tribunals, and strategic forums.
Qualifications:
- Degree-level qualification in Education, Health, Social Care, or a related professional discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Essentials:
- Significant senior leadership experience managing complex SEND or children's education services.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of SEND legislation, statutory guidance, and national policy.
- Experience developing and implementing SEND strategies and service improvement programmes.
- Expert knowledge of SEND legislation, statutory assessment processes, and inclusive education.
