We are working closely with local authority in Neath Port Talbot to assist with the appointment of a Community Improvement Operative, on a 1-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: Β£12.85- Β£16.62 per hour
Summary:
The Community Improvement Operative plays an important role in maintaining clean, safe, and attractive public spaces across Neath Port Talbot County Borough. Working within the Streetcare Services team, the postholder undertakes a range of street cleansing and environmental maintenance duties, with a primary focus on litter picking and improving the appearance of streets, parks, open spaces, and other public areas.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake general street cleansing duties across the county borough, including litter picking in streets, parks, public open spaces, footpaths, and highways.
- Remove litter, leaves, debris, and other waste from public areas to maintain high environmental standards.
- Assist with environmental improvement activities to enhance the appearance of local communities.
- Report fly-tipping, graffiti, damaged street furniture, hazardous waste, abandoned vehicles, and other environmental issues to the appropriate teams.
- Comply with all health and safety policies, safe working procedures, and risk assessments.
Qualifications:
- Good standard of general education or equivalent practical experience.
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements in an outdoor working environment.
Essentials:
- Experience undertaking manual outdoor work in a street cleansing, environmental maintenance, grounds maintenance, waste management, or similar environment.
- Experience carrying out litter picking, public realm cleansing, or environmental maintenance activities.
- Experience working safely in accordance with health and safety procedures.
