We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Brentwood to assist with the appointment of a Project Systems Accountant, on a 6.5-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary: We're looking for a Project Systems Accountant to lead financial systems projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Council. You'll play a key role in managing and developing corporate financial management systems, supporting finance transformation projects, and working closely with Finance and ICT teams to deliver efficient, compliant, and high-quality financial services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead financial systems projects, upgrades, and implementations.
- Manage and develop the Council's corporate financial management systems.
- Support finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Configure, maintain, and monitor financial and procurement systems.
- Manage system security, user access, testing, training, and documentation.
- Support budgeting, budgetary control, financial reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processes.
- Work closely with Finance, ICT, software suppliers, and external stakeholders to resolve system issues and deliver improvements.
Qualifications:
- AAT qualified, part-qualified, or fully qualified accountant.
Essentials:
- Experience working within a Local Government finance environment.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, budgetary control, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing finance systems, upgrades, implementations, or finance transformation projects.
- Strong knowledge of corporate financial management systems.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with Finance and ICT teams.
