We are working closely alongside a local authority in Basingstoke and Deane to assist with the appointment of a Mayoral Support Officer on a 6.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary: The Mayoral Support Officer provides high-level, dedicated administrative and logistical support to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane. This role is pivotal in maintaining the dignity and efficiency of the Mayoralty, ensuring that civic duties are executed seamlessly. Working as part of a job-share (covering mid-week), you will manage the Mayoral diary, coordinate high-profile events, and serve as a professional point of contact for councillors, officers, and the public.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support, including monitoring and triaging the team's central inbox.
  • Organize travel arrangements and prepare briefing notes or itineraries for the Mayor's attendance at functions.
  • Assist in the end-to-end planning and delivery of civic and charitable events (e.g., Mayor's Charity Ball, Remembrance Sunday, Civic Services).
  • Manage logistical requirements including booking venues, arranging transport, and organizing catering/refreshments.
  • Maintain the highest standards of etiquette and professionalism when interacting with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, councillors, and VIP guests.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience in a high-level administrative or executive assistant role, ideally within a local government or legal environment.
