Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Basingstoke to assist with the appointment of a Homeless Prevention Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £19.15 - £25.21 per hour
Summary:
Homeless Prevention Officer will undertake housing options and support needs assessments, work proactively to prevent homelessness, and make statutory homelessness decisions while collaborating with internal teams and external partners to achieve positive outcomes for individuals and families.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of homelessness prevention cases using a person-centred and trauma-informed approach.
- Conduct comprehensive housing options and support needs assessments.
- Work proactively with individuals and families to prevent homelessness wherever possible.
- Make statutory homelessness assessments and determinations in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 Part 7 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Develop and implement personalised housing plans to support sustainable housing outcomes.
- Liaise with internal departments, accommodation providers, community safety teams, and other partner agencies.
Essentials:
- Excellent working knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Proven experience managing a homelessness prevention caseload.
- Experience undertaking statutory homelessness assessments and making legal decisions.
- Ability to apply a trauma-informed and person-centred approach to service delivery.
- Strong partnership working skills with internal and external stakeholders.
