Overview
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Brentwood to assist with the appointment of a Street Care Operative, on a 2.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client\βs discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration. Rate of Pay: Β£13.54- Β£17.04 per hour. The Street Care Operative will play an important role in maintaining clean and safe streets, town centres, and public spaces across Brentwood. The postholder will be responsible for emptying litter bins, litter picking, collecting household waste, delivering recycling products, and operating vehicles and equipment, including a 3.5-ton tipper van. For suitable candidates, there may also be opportunities to operate a compact sweeping machine. This role is vital in helping Brentwood Borough Council deliver high-quality street care services and maintain an attractive, welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Work in compliance with health and safety legislation, including safe lifting practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with members of the public, businesses, or colleagues.
- Support colleagues and supervisors to ensure waste collection and street care services are delivered efficiently and on time.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including reporting any fly tipping, hazardous waste, or service issues.
- Experience of working in a manual outdoor role (e.g., waste collection, grounds maintenance, street care, or similar).
- Full UK driving licence, with the ability to drive a 3.5-ton vehicle.
