We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Shropshire to assist with the appointment of a Senior Revenues & Benefits Manager, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. The Revenues & Benefits Manager is responsible for leading the Council Tax, Business Rates, and Benefits service, ensuring efficient revenue collection, accurate benefits administration, debt recovery, statutory compliance, service improvement, and effective leadership of operational teams while supporting senior management in delivering strategic service objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the delivery of Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefits, and discretionary schemes.
- Manage Team Managers and oversee the performance and development of Revenues teams.
- Ensure accurate annual billing for Council Tax, Business Rates (NNDR), and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).
- Oversee debt recovery, arrears management, overpayments, and write-off processes.
- Manage government funding schemes, reliefs, grants, and statutory initiatives.
- Significant experience managing Revenues & Benefits, Council Tax, or Business Rates services.
- Strong leadership and people management experience, including managing Team Managers and operational teams.
- Extensive knowledge of Council Tax, Business Rates (NNDR), Housing Benefits, and relevant legislation.
- Experience managing debt recovery, billing, discretionary schemes, and government funding initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage performance, budgets, service improvement, and statutory compliance.
