We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Nottinghamshire to assist with the appointment of a Kitchen Domestic, on a 1.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Responsibilities

  • The Catering Assistant supports the delivery of a high-quality catering service within a local day service setting.
  • The role involves food preparation, meal service, cleaning duties, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
  • Working under the direction of the Caterer, the post holder will contribute to a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for service users, including people with disabilities.
  • Assist in the provision of catering services within the day service.
  • Prepare vegetables and carry out simple food preparation as directed.
  • Serve meals in line with agreed menus, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of a flexible snack service.
  • Wash pans, utensils, crockery, and cutlery.
  • Clean catering equipment, surfaces, and storage areas in line with cleaning schedules.
  • Carry out general dining room duties as required.
  • Notify the named person of equipment defects and support actions to ensure repairs.
  • Order stock in the absence of the Caterer, where required.

Qualifications / Essential Requirements

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • Willingness to undertake training in food hygiene, health & safety, and cooking appropriate to the role.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of disabled people.
  • Commitment to excellent customer care and respectful service delivery.
  • Ability to work efficiently, both as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet service needs.
  • Willingness to wear protective clothing, including headwear and appropriate footwear.
  • Willingness to keep hair and beards tidy and tied back as required.
  • Physically able to work in a kitchen environment (no conditions likely to be aggravated by kitchen work).
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development.
  • Right to work in the UK.
