We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Ashfield to assist with the appointment of a Housing Options Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion. The Housing Options Officer provides a high-quality housing advice and assessment service to individuals and families who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and investigate homelessness applications in line with legislation and council policies.
  • Provide housing advice and support to prevent and relieve homelessness.
  • Manage a caseload of homelessness and housing options cases.
  • Conduct homelessness enquiries and make Section 184 decisions.
  • Secure suitable temporary accommodation for eligible households.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Experience assessing and managing homelessness applications.
  • Competent in making Section 184 homelessness decisions.
  • Experience working to prevent and relieve homelessness.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and vulnerable client groups.
  • Experience of multi-agency and partnership working.
