We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Waltham Forest to assist with the appointment of a Temporary Accommodation Placement Officer, on a 5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion.
The Temporary Accommodation Officer will play a key role in preventing homelessness and ensuring households are placed into suitable temporary accommodation when required.
The successful candidate will work closely with residents, landlords, accommodation providers, and partner agencies to secure safe, compliant, and cost-effective housing solutions while delivering a high standard of customer service.
- Negotiate with households facing eviction to help prevent the need for temporary accommodation.
- Arrange, coordinate, and manage temporary accommodation placements and transfers for homeless households.
- Work collaboratively with residents, landlords, accommodation providers, and partner agencies to secure appropriate housing solutions.
- Ensure all temporary accommodation placements are safe, compliant, suitable, and cost effective.
- Manage a varied caseload and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Deliver a customer-focused service while supporting vulnerable households through challenging circumstances.
- Experience preventing homelessness or supporting customers with housing needs.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build positive relationships with customers, landlords, and partner organisations.
- Experience supporting individuals in challenging or vulnerable circumstances.
- Competent in using IT systems and databases to maintain accurate records.
