We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Driver, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.Rate of Pay: £15.42 – £20.12 per hourSummary:We are seeking an experienced and reliable Driver to operate dustcarts for Southwark Councils Waste and Cleaning Service. The ideal candidate will have previous dustcart driving experience, preferably with a local authority or waste services company, and will work closely with loaders to ensure the efficient completion of collection rounds. In addition to driving, the role requires assisting with loading, route planning, and maintaining high standards of safety, teamwork, and customer service.Responsibilities:
- Drive and operate dustcarts and associated equipment safely and in accordance with training and legal requirements.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks, ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy and compliant, and record findings accurately.
- Work collaboratively with loaders, assisting with loading as required to ensure timely completion of rounds.
- Plan and adapt routes to meet the daily schedule and operational needs.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times, particularly when reversing or manoeuvring the vehicle.
Full, clean Category C (LGV) driving licence.
- Driver CPC qualification and valid tachograph card.
- Previous experience driving dustcarts or large goods vehicles.
- Ability to work as part of a small, close-knit team.
- Experience in manual handling (training provided if necessary).
- Good route planning and problem-solving skills.
