We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Gardener, on a 6.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
The Gardener role involves:
- Operating grounds maintenance equipment
- Undertaking seasonal duties
- Ensuring high standards of environmental presentation are maintained at all times
- Maintaining lawns, hedges, shrubs, flower beds, and communal gardens across council estates and public spaces
- Carrying out grass cutting, strimming, pruning, weeding, planting, and other horticultural tasks
- Undertaking regular litter picking, waste removal, and general cleansing duties in outdoor areas
- Ensuring pathways, entrances, communal areas, and open spaces remain clean, safe, and free from hazards
- Performing seasonal maintenance activities including leaf clearance, snow removal, gritting, and winter maintenance duties
- Identifying and reporting fly-tipping, vandalism, damaged infrastructure, safety hazards, or other environmental concerns
Essentials:
- Full UK driving licence with the ability to drive a 3.5-tonne van
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, environmental services, or a similar outdoor maintenance role
- Ability to operate grounds maintenance machinery and equipment safely and effectively
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements relating to outdoor maintenance and public spaces
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Right to work in the U.K.
