Bracken Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Director with a strong Civil Engineering background to join a business with a fantastic reputation. The business is a market leader and has an extremely strong pipeline of work moving forward.
You will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of all commercial aspects of the £250m+ division's performance and reporting. Provide support to the Managing Director in all commercial matters and provide direction, support, development, and empowerment of individuals to achieve both divisional and individual objectives.
General Responsibilities:
- Managing a team of Commercial Managers
- Assisting Bid and estimating teams
- Overseeing the relationships between surveyors and operations, ensuring co-operation and engagement that allows for successful projects which support the achievement of the business objectives and deliver the agreed budgeted margins.
- Supporting the Managing Director in reporting to the Board of Directors on all divisional financial issues, with clarity and transparency in all areas.
- Participating in group-wide forums and initiatives and contributing fully to the development and implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Agreeing target margins for all projects.
- Engaging with the project teams to ensure the delivery of successful projects and to deliver the target margins.
- Liaising with Senior Operations Management to ensure that the project forecasts positions are accurate against the target margin and profit plans.
- Ensuring that all contractual processes, correspondence, and documentation are stored correctly.
- Liaising with Senior Management Team on contractual matters within their regions/divisions.
- Having full profit and loss accountability for the Division.
- Keeping abreast of the preliminaries/site management costs and ensuring that the Project team are advised accordingly so they can action and remedy over expenditure.
- Ensuring profit plans are understood for each scheme/project and monitoring and delivering on agreed areas while identifying further areas for recovery.
Requirements:
- BSc in Quantity Surveying or similar commercial related course
- Professional membership of appropriate body
- Good data interrogation skills
- Civil Engineering background
- Leadership experience with the ability to influence at all levels.
