We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Employment Solicitor to join our Employment, Pensions & Immigration Department. The successful applicant will be working in our corporate support team of specialist employment solicitors providing employment and people related legal support to colleagues working in corporate and commercial transactions of all sizes. You will also have the opportunity to work in our specialist Recruitment and Workforce Solutions team dealing with status issues and receiving training to be able to deal with recruitment regulatory work. This presents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to develop a true niche under the guidance of our award winning Recruitment & Workforce Solutions lawyers opening the door to meaningful career progression.
You will have experience of working on corporate transactions providing advice and guidance to corporate colleagues and a wide range of clients involved in corporate transactions. You will be dealing with TUPE issues, reviewing employment due diligence, drafting reports, advising on associated employment liabilities and risk, as well as drafting employment documents and advising on settlement agreements. If you have experience of dealing with issues relating to the use of self employed contractors and some knowledge of IR35 that would be advantageous, as well as having experience of dealing with warranties, indemnities and corporate documents from an employment law perspective. You should have a strong grounding in general employment law advice and have a keen desire to enhance your skillset and experience working with an award winning team of solicitors. This role is based in our Lancashire Office which is based just off the motorway network at Walton Summit, Preston but we’re open to candidates who are based in Liverpool or Manchester but are prepared to work from the Lancashire office regularly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advising clients on employment issues arising from corporate transaction
- Working with corporate colleagues to deliver excellent service to clients engaged in corporate transactions
- Managing data room due diligence including advising on employment issues identified and solutions to support successful completion of transactions
- Drafting and advising on employment documentation, including Service Agreements and Settlement Agreements
- Advising and managing TUPE transfers
- Drafting, advising and negotiating commercial documents to manage the TUPE risks and responsibilities at the end of the term of supply
- Drafting and advising on employment warranties and indemnities in corporate documentation
- Advising on self employed contractor arrangements including advising and drafting contractual documentation
- Advising on employment status and IR35, including mitigating risks from engaging self employed contractors
- Supporting clients with disciplinary, grievance, redundancy and restructuring matters
- Drafting and negotiating employment contracts, settlement agreements and HR policies
- Working collaboratively across the firm to provide integrated client service
- Working as part of a team to successfully manage Employment Tribunal litigation and resolve employment related disputes through ACAS, mediation and negotiations
- Working with the Recruitment & Workforce Solutions sector team to manage sector regulatory investigations on behalf of clients
- Working with the Recruitment & Workforce Solutions sector team to advise on issues relating to the supply of temporary workers and issues arising from sophisticated labour supply chains
- Working with litigation, corporate and commercial colleagues to deliver sector client projects
