About the Role
The role of a Private Client Consultant encompasses offering advice to clients, who elected Will writing services via their benefit platform, on a variety of legal matters, ensuring compliance with current laws and procedures.
Role Aims
Providing expert advice in Wills (i. e. creating a new Will, updating an existing Will, advising on Trust structures, preserving wealth and minimising inheritance tax liability, income tax and capital gains), Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate.
Tailoring your approach to the needs of each individual client, you will strive to help our clients navigate through the legal landscape with confidence and empathy.
Responsibilities
- Offering expert advice to clients on how best to structure their Will/Trusts/LPAs, whilst ensuring compliance with current laws.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, offering a bespoke and empathetic service.
- Where appropriate, make referrals for additional services, including Trusts, Life Insurance, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) and other associated products.
- Communicating efficiently with other stakeholders, advisors and the wider team.
- Conducting new research and drawing from existing research and reports that have been produced in-house.
- Able to interpret and apply theoretical legal knowledge so that it applies to practical business solutions.
- Prioritising work so that deadlines and company SLAs can be met. Responsible for gathering and maintaining accurate and relevant information and legal records.
- Following up with clients after their initial meeting to obtain any outstanding information and answer any questions so that draft Wills and subsequent Final versions can be issued.
Updating CRM.
- Drafting and revising Wills and LPAs within company SLAs. Producing technically accurate quality of work and drafting technically correct documents as per client needs.
- Answering client calls and emails within company SLAs.
- LPAs – preparing LPA forms, supporting with submitting & registering. Ensuring clients follow the guidelines and complete all paperwork correctly prior to submitting to OPG.
- Regular attendance at client roadshows. Help to promote the business to identify and generate new business opportunities.
- Regular regional client meetings. An overnight stay may be required.
- Diary management – review and maintain your diary weekly. Work closely with your TL and the Meetings team for cost-efficient travel and accommodation arrangements.
- Assist other areas of the business in peaks and quiet periods.
- Further development of knowledge and skills via additional external studies / qualifications may be required after a successful completion of your probation.

- Minimum of 2 years of client-facing experience.

- Flexible, can-do attitude. Copes well in fast-paced environments.
- Confident with managing emails/admin and using MS Office.
- Clean driving licence.
Essential skills and abilities
- Previous experience in Financial Services – Mortgages, Life insurance etc.
- A degree in law from an accredited university or college.
- Proven experience in Wills, Trusts, Probate and Estate Planning.
- Experience in handling diverse legal issues along with the latest knowledge of the industry.
- STEP or CILEX qualified (or working towards).
