About this role

We’re looking for an IT Support Specialist to join our team and ensure our people, tools, and spaces stay connected and productive. You’ll be the first point of contact for day-to-day IT support across the company, helping to make sure everyone has what they need to do their best work. In this role, you will work closely with People Operations and Engineering to support and empower our growing team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Frontline Operational Support: Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day user support, managing requests efficiently through to completion.
  • JML Lifecycle Execution: Own the IT Joiner, Mover, Leaver (JML) lifecycle, ensuring all core access is securely granted on Day 1.
  • Office Tech Management: Maintain our Edinburgh HQ office tech, including network infrastructure (Wi-Fi, LAN), conference room AV setups, and ISP coordination.
  • Endpoint Management & Security: Maintain an accurate inventory of corporate endpoints, support both Apple and Windows operating systems, deploy security patches, and report on security posture.
  • Identity and License Governance: Manage user provisioning based on a centralised RBAC framework, while actively tracking and reclaiming unused or abandoned software licenses.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in an internal IT Operations, Systems Admin, or advanced IT Support role, ideally within a scaling or high-growth tech environment.
  • Comfortable managing a multi-OS environment (both macOS and Windows) using MDM platforms alongside.
  • Solid understanding of core networking infrastructure (Wi-Fi/LAN) and automated endpoint deployment.
  • Strong familiarity with Identity Providers enforcing SSO, MFA, and RBAC governance.
  • Process-driven mindset with an appreciation of structured service requests and change management processes.
  • A proactive problem-solver and collaborative communicator who is eager to automate and scale operations.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working within structured ITSM frameworks (Jira Service Manager or similar).
  • Exposure to IT automation, scripting, or automated software delivery tools.
  • Experience maintaining IT systems compliance in alignment with security frameworks such as PCI-DSS or SOC2.
  • Experience handling or reporting on IT security incidents and managing Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery processes.
  • Working knowledge of Google workspace / applications.

Why this role exists:

Our business is growing rapidly, and keeping a distributed, high-performing team seamlessly connected is critical to our success. As we scale, the complexity of our stack, endpoints, and security requirements increases. This role exists to establish robust, IT foundations that protect our infrastructure and eliminate operational friction, ensuring every BR-DGE Builder can work securely and productively from day one.

What we offer:

  • Flexibility: Remote-first working culture, with a 3pm finish on a Friday; a role that respects your other priorities.
  • Time Off: 33 (25+8) days holiday (including floating public holidays) plus an extra day off for your birthday.
  • Financial: Competitive salary, pension scheme and life insurance.
  • Health: Family private healthcare and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Growth: A culture that champions career progression. Chance to directly contribute to an innovative tech business as it scales.
  • Community: Quarterly in-person team events and monthly socials to keep our remote team connected.

At BR-DGE, we champion diversity and inclusion. We believe that our roles should be open to everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, or neurotype. We value the unique talents and perspectives that each individual brings and try to create a fair and accessible hiring process for all.

How to prepare for a job interview at Br-dge

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
