Role Purpose
You will lead and optimise B&Q’s financial services offering—including credit, insurance, gift cards, and payment solutions—driving commercial value while delivering great customer outcomes. You will manage key financial services partnerships, influence digital journey development, and ensure alignment with compliance and Consumer Duty standards.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Commercial Strategy & Performance: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability across our Financial Services propositions. Own the commercial performance of financial services products and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, execute and ensure the success of our Financial Services propositions. Drive customer uptake, satisfaction, and profitability across online and in-store channels. Identify and implement innovative payment solutions to meet customer needs.
- Partner & Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships across multiple third-party Financial Services suppliers. Monitor and optimise product pricing, partner terms, and revenue streams through our supplier ecosystem. Support negotiations and contract reviews, ensuring terms reflect business values.
- Insights, Reporting & Regulatory Governance: Monitor and analyse sales and financial data to make informed business decisions and adjust strategies as needed, providing regular updates to senior leadership. Feed into Consumer Duty outcome testing and Board reporting packs. Support financial modelling, forecasting, and business case development for new products. Ensure all retail financial products meet FCA Consumer Duty, commission disclosure, and affordability standards.
What We Need
- Required Skills & Experience: Experience in the financial services sector (ideally within a retail organisation). Strong commercial experience, working with internal stakeholders to drive sales and operational excellence. Understanding of the P&L of financial services propositions and how to balance cost and commercial benefit. Experience managing suppliers on whom we’re dependent for core customer services. Track record of building exceptional relationships and using these to support the business objectives. Proven negotiation skills. Ability to articulate current and future credit propositions clearly to audiences at all levels. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to decompose complex problems. A customer-first attitude demonstrated through process improvement and the development of financial services propositions.
