We believe anyone can improve their home to make life better. From our Southampton Store Support Office (SSO) we equip our stores, our people, and our whole business with everything it takes to help our millions of customers create a home they’ll love. Join us as a National Implementation Manager and you’ll be a big part of this.
Role Purpose: High-impact, field-led leadership role where you will shape how retail change, transformation and asset protection come to life across every B&Q store. This role is about turning strategy into action, ambition into execution and risk insight into confident, consistent store performance. You will be the driving force behind the successful implementation of new commercial programs, propositions and operational models, while strengthening asset protection, shrinkage prevention, health & safety and compliance. Working hand-in-hand with Regional and Store Leadership teams, you will embed sustainable ways of working that protect our assets, simplify operations and deliver brilliant customer experiences — every day, in every store.
What’s the job? This is a strategy-to-execution role at the heart of our retail operations. You’ll lead national programmes through disciplined planning, inspirational field leadership and relentless follow-through.
- Be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of retail change, digital, transformation and commercial initiatives — ensuring they land with pace, consistency and measurable impact in stores.
- Translate complex transformation and risk strategies into clear, executable plans that store teams can own with confidence.
- Act as a visible field leader — coaching, challenging and energising Store, Regional and Divisional leaders to role-model new behaviours and ways of working.
- Use shrinkage, stock loss, operational and H&S insight to focus effort where it matters most, creating strong action plans that protect our people, stock and sites.
- Build powerful cross-functional partnerships with Property, Finance, Supply Chain, Space & Range, Risk, Process, Audit and Asset Protection to remove friction and accelerate delivery.
- Lead communication and capability-building approaches that bring change to life — using storytelling, data and practical coaching across virtual and face-to-face environments.
- Own operational governance: track progress, validate outcomes, surface risks early and ensure learnings are embedded at scale.
- Continuously simplify and improve ways of working, unlocking efficiency, compliance and cost savings without compromising customer experience.
What We Need:
- Exceptional influencing skills, able to move seamlessly from shopfloor conversations to senior leadership forums to inspire people to get things done properly at pace.
- A natural coaching style that builds confidence, accountability, and capability in others - creating sustainable performance through outstanding leadership.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and programmes at speed, without losing focus, quality, or grip on detail.
- A strong track record of delivering large-scale retail change in the field across 300+ stores and thousands of colleagues. Ability to take initiatives from plans through to embedded execution.
- Deep understanding of store operations, retail store rhythms and routines, and the end-to-end colleague processes and customer journeys in store.
- A sharp, data-informed mindset. Confident using insight to prioritise action, measure success, and course-correct at pace.
- Comfortable working independently in a field-based role, with strong planning, organisation, and follow-through to land change consistently.
- Full UK driving Licence essential for nationwide travel across our store estate and to support your field team.
Key Business Relationships: Retail – Stores, Regional Managers, Divisional Managers, TradePoint, Field teams; SSO - Mainly Retail Operations teams, Learning & Development teams, and some other functions.
