Role purpose: As the Business Change Lead for the Stores Domain, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the retail experience for both colleagues and customers. Your mission is to drive impactful change by ensuring that technology investments translate seamlessly into meaningful enhancements in our stores. Whether it\’s optimising checkouts, streamlining order processes, or empowering our 20,000 store colleagues with cutting-edge tools, you will be at the forefront of making every customer count. In this role, you will lead the planning, execution, and adoption of in-store technology initiatives. You will oversee the deployment of technology from B&Q Product Teams, Group Product & Platform teams, as well as infrastructure and hardware changes, ensuring each initiative lands effectively with our colleagues and customers. Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Retail Ops, Program Managers and Communication Teams, you will shape training materials, organise pilots, plan rollouts, and ensure seamless UAT and colleague engagement. You\’ll also innovate by leveraging AI and train-the-trainer techniques to build knowledge and confidence across our
teams.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead change management strategies and plans for all Store domain initiatives.
 - Conduct impact assessments, readiness reviews, and adoption risk analysis across initiatives.
 - Own the technology change calendar for Stores, ensuring sequencing, comms, and rollout doesn\’t overwhelm the front line.
 - Partner with Comms, Retail Ops, and Implementation teams to shape messaging, engagement approach and training materials.
 - Build a narrative for change that connects Store technology initiatives to colleague experience and operational efficiency.
 - Lead the planning and execution of UAT involvement, training, process updates, and go-live support.
 - Track adoption metrics including qualitative feedback, and behavioural change post-rollout.
 - Engage and influence Retail leads and Store teams to champion and embed change.
 - Design repeatable playbooks, toolkits, and best practices to accelerate change readiness for future initiatives.
 - Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and evolving the change approach based on Store feedback.
 
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience in change management practices (business readiness, risk management, implementation strategy)
 - Strong communication and stakeholder influencing abilities with experience of engaging with various stakeholders (Store teams, Product Owners, Technology teams)
 - Good understanding of store technology ecosystems (e.g. POS systems, inventory management and ordering systems)
 - Ability to plan and monitor business change and change impact assessment,
 
demonstrating an agile mindset and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- High-judgement decision-making collaborating to resolve roadblocks, demonstrating creative problem solving and capturing learnings and best practice for future initiatives.
