What's the job?

To oversee financial reporting, statutory compliance and internal controls ensuring the integrity and reliability of financial information.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of accurate and timely monthly and year-end financial reporting to Group, ensuring high-quality outputs and compliance with accounting standards and Group Reporting Manual.
  • Oversees the individual entity statutory accounts process ensuring an efficient delivery with deadlines met including supporting local board meetings.
  • Formal Balance Sheet reviews with Finance Director on quarterly basis, including half yearly analytical reviews for all B&Q entities with detailed explanations on movements.
  • Review of balance sheet accounts and sign off in accordance with internal frameworks.
  • Partner with wider finance teams on significant accounting areas and business initiatives to provide technical expertise.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes and strengthen controls.
  • Managing the external audit of B&Q and statutory entities ensuring delivery of information on a timely basis and keeping senior stakeholders updated on progress.

What we need:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Experience within a similar role post qualification, ideally within the Retail industry sector
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting standards (IFRS) and experience in technical accounting roles / audit.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Strong team player.
  • Flexible and deadline-orientated, able to work under pressure and prioritise workload accordingly.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel.
  • SAP & HFM experience beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels.

Possible travel to Krakow, Poland or London Paddington.
