Here at BPP Education Group, we have a dedicated Facilities team who work tirelessly to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of every BPP Centre.
We’re looking for a warm, proactive, and highly organised individual to become the beating heart of our Newcastle campus operations. As our Building Manager/ Facilities Officer, you’ll be the go to person for everything that keeps our campus running smoothly, from coordinating office logistics to being the friendly face that welcomes staff, students, and visitors alike.
This is an independent role, perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes pride in creating a space that’s safe, efficient, and welcoming. You’ll be the central point of contact for facilities, services, and day-to-day operational needs, working closely with teams across the business to ensure our Newcastle site is a place people love to work and learn.
What you’ll be doing
You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the building whilst also ensuring all students, clients and staff are supported on a daily basis.
As such, you will be responsible for:
- Opening/closing the building and maintaining security levels
- Acting as the first point of contact for facilities/building issues (building management, landlord and contractors)
- Managing the facilities online portal (reviewing jobs raised, logging new reactive tasks, monitoring job progress)
- Liaising with internal departments in support of administrative tasks
- Acting as Health & Safety contact, First Aider and Fire/Chief Fire Marshal (full training will be provided)
- Overseeing annual external H&S audits and carrying out general H&S and fire safety tasks
- With support from the IT department, providing a first line response to classroom IT queries and troubleshooting IT issues
- Scheduling and facilitating computer-based assessments
- Covering reception as and when required and distributing internal and external post
- Providing support and managing refreshments for internal and external BPP events
To be successful in this role you will need to have a proven track record in the following areas:
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to take ownership of issues and associated responsibility for completing a task
- Well organised with attention to detail and self-disciplined
- Ability to prioritise workload and remain calm under pressure
- You must be proactive, highly motivated and adaptable to change
- Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
- Competence in using standard IT programmes, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Prior experience of providing assistance within a facilities, property or retail environment would be beneficial
- Knowledge in Health & Safety with a qualification would be advantageous but not essential
Working Pattern
In this role you will be fully centre based working 37.5hours per week to cover the opening hours of the centre.
